Ashlan Ramsey, the world’s top-rated amateur last season while playing at Clemson, and Alexandra Buelow, a former star at Stetson, have been given the two sponsor exemptions for next week’s SEFCU Championship, a Symetra Tour golf tournament at Capital Hills.

Ramsey and Buelow will be included in the 144-player field competing July 25-27 at the city-owned golf course.

Ramsey, 18, played one year of college golf at Clemson and was ranked No. 1 among amateur by Golfweek before turning professional. She was part of the U.S. Curtis Cup team that defeated Great Britain and Ireland in June.

“It will be exciting, I’ve never played before (Symetra Tour event) but I’ve heard a lot of good things about it,” Ramsey said in a tour press release. “There are a lot of really good players on the Symetra Tour, so it will be a good experience for me to test my game against them and see kind of where I am at.”

In her first two events as a professional, Ramsey finished in a tie for second at both the PGA Women’s Opens in Michigan and Texas.

In her lone season at Clemson, Ramsey had two victories and a team high six top-10 finishes. She was twice named the ACC Golfer of the Month.

Buelow, in her fourth year on the Symetra Tour, has played in four events so far this year and a total of 45 career events. Her best finish on the Symetra Tour is a tie for 14th at the 2011 Daytona Beach Invitational.

A native of Palm City, Fla., she was a three-time Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year at Stetson (2009-2012). She was also the Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year in 2010.
